Greek (Greek: Ελληνικά or ελληνική) is an Indo-European language family with a history of 4,000 years. The Greek alphabet is used to write in Greek. Greek is divided into two, classical and modern. In addition to being quite different from each other, these languages are based on classical Greek as a modern Greek origin.

The Greek language is the mother tongue of approximately 13 million people living in Greece, Germany, Austria and the United States. There are 2,500 Greek native speakers in Turkey, and most of them live in Istanbul, Bozcaada, Gökçeada.

There are a considerable number of Turks who can speak Greek or Greek languages, who have migrated to Turkey from Cyprus and Greece. Most of these Turks settled in the region of Mersin and western Anatolia.

Greek is a language that has been used continuously since the past and has been proven in history. It is one of the few languages in history that has revealed important works in almost every era. In addition, Greek also contributed greatly to civilization. Especially to European and Middle Eastern civilizations. Greek is one of the most important languages in the history of mankind because of the fact that antiquity was a bridge in the connection between the Middle Ages and the present day.
